Blueway: Airlift completes NVIS certification of four AgustaWestland AW139’s

15th October, 2013

Airlift has completed NVIS (Night Vision Imaging System) certification of four (4) AgustaWestland AW139 for the Norwegian operator Lufttransport.

The AW139 NVIS certification has been approved under EASA STC number 10044769, released to Airlift’s EASA approved Part-21 Design Organisation (DOA) earlier this year with the certification of the first helicopter. The four aircraft are normally operated in EMS (Emergency Medical Services) role in Norway from Ålesund, Brønnøysund and Tromsø EMS bases.

Airlift DOA has also completed, earlier this autumn, EASA certification (STC) for the installation of the Spectrolab SX-5 Search Light on the same helicopters.
The operator Lufttransport has already awarded Airlift DOA a contact for NVIS certification of its three (3) Eurocopter AS365 N3/N3+ helicopters.
NVIS certification specialist Airlift already holds several EASA STCs for Eurocopter AS365 N2/N3 as well as BK117/EC145 and has completed different certification of EMS/SAR helicopters in Scandinavia, where the use of NVG (Night Vision Goggles) is necessary due to the very short daylight time in winter, especially above the Arctic Circle.
Airlift, as an operator itself, has 15 years NVG operations experience with AWSAR (All Weather Search And Rescue) helicopters in the Arctic archipelago of Spitsbergen (Svalbard).
