Thales announces Blueway will be the launch customer for its Helicopter training centre in Norway, planned for 2015.
Blueway is a market leader in Scandinavian on-shore and off-shore helicopter services, specializing in shuttle services and replacement of flare tips, as well as search & rescue, infrastructure and environmental operations. In particular, Blueway’s offshore activity is very well regarded in the Scandinavian oil and gas sector. The Thales training centre will answer to the specific needs of Blueway pilots by tailoring the Thales Reality H simulator, the most advanced full flight simulator on the market, to Norwegian and Nordic Countries’ flight scenarios.
The contract has a duration of 10 years and training will initially be configured to the EC225, a market leading platform for offshore work. However, the modularity of the simulator will allow Thales to respond to changes in Blueway’s training needs as they arise.
The centre aims to meet the increasing demand for local training services for Oil & Gas helicopter operators. A further objective for the centre will be to open up new areas of training to support defence and search and rescue operations and emergency response in the region.
This contract further consolidates Thales’s growing position as one of Europe’s premier helicopter training providers and comes hot off the heels of the announcement of the shared facility operated with SAF in Albertville in the French Alps.
