Scanship to deliver equipment to the world’s largest fish hatchery

01st June, 2017

Scanship has entered a contract together with Kruger Kaldnes to supply its technology for Lerøy's new smolt hatchery Sjøtroll in Norway. The hatchery, said to become the world largest when completed in 2018, will be equipped with Scanship technology for complete sludge handling with filtration, dewatering and drying. The system will be delivered in Q1 2018.

“We are proud to be selected as supplier for this prestigious project. This is our third and largest contract in the aquaculture market, in which we see forward growth opportunities by applying our core technology for environmental sustainability. The solution to be delivered also provides the production facility with potential for bio residual recovery”, says Scanship’s CEO Henrik Badin.

The Scanship process consists of dewatering and drying of the aquaculture sludge. The aquaculture sludge is the residues from Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS). The RAS technology is used to minimize water consumption and to enhance fish production. The volume reduction of the aquaculture sludge through the Scanship process is very efficient, reducing the residues down to about 0.5% of its original volume.
